چکیده

Three geographic information system GIS -based distributed hydrological models were developed for flood simulation and forecasting in a subbasin of the Yellow River. A grid-and-topography-based distributed hydrological physical model, i.e., the GTOPMODEL model, is described that includes vegetation and root interception, evapotranspiration, and runoff generation via the saturation excess mechanism, as well as subsurface via the Darcian approach used by TOPMODEL, runoff concentration, and flow routing. The downslope redistribution of soil moisture is explicitly calculated on a grid by grid basis. Using the isochrone curve method based on GIS, another two models are developed on the basis of the Xinanjiang and TOPMODEL models. The three developed models were applied to the Upper Lushi basin in Luohe River, one tributary of the Yellow River, with an area of 4,716 km2 for flood simulation. The results show that all of these models perform well in the simulation and can be used for flood forecasting in the Yellow River basin and that GTOPMODEL performed the best among the three models. Short communication:GIS based hydro-biological parameter approach for identification of productive zones in Nanak Sagar Reservoir of Uttarakhand, India

An attempt was made to identify the productivity level of different zones of Nanak Sagar reservoir through the application of Geographical Information System (GIS). Based on biological, hydrological and soil parameters, thematic layers were created by interpolating point wise annual average value of given parameters and three models were developed using the weighted overlay method in ArcGIS v.1...

A real-time hydrological model for flood prediction using GIS and the WWW

The purpose of this paper is to examine the current status of real time hydrological models used for flood nowcasting and hazard mitigation and indicate how WWW-based systems can overcome some of the limitations of existing systems. Whilst hydrologically innovative and robust models are available, they are poorly suited to real time application, are often not well integrated with spatial datase...

AVTOP: a full integration of TOPMODEL into GIS

The integration of environmental models and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) usually takes two approaches: loose coupling and tight coupling. This paper, however, presents a full coupling approach within a GIS environment that is achieved by developing the existing hydrological models with the macro language of GIS. Such an approach makes it easy to capitalize on the GIS visualization and...

Comparison of Efficiency for ‎Hydrological Models (AWBM & ‎SimHyd) and Neural Network (MLP & ‎RBF) in Rainfall–Runoff Simulation ‎(Case study: Bar Aryeh Watershed ‎‌-‌Neyshabur)‎

For suitable programming and management of water resources, access to perfect information from the discharge at the watershed outlet is essential. In most watersheds, the hydrometric station is not available; then, different models are used to simulate the discharge within watersheds without data. The selection of preferred model for rainfall- runoff simulation depends to the purpose of modelin...

Evaluating Three Hydrological Distributed Watershed Models: MIKE-SHE, APEX, SWAT

Selecting the right model to simulate a specific watershed has always been a challenge, and field testing of watersheds could help researchers to use the proper model for their purposes. The performance of three popular Geographic Information System (GIS)-based watershed simulation models (European Hydrological System Model (MIKE SHE), Agricultural Policy/Environmental Extender (APEX) and Soil ...
